Yerevan /Mediamax/. Today, leading Armenian mobile operator VivaCell-MTS and Mediamax News Agency heads visited Gyumri N6 music school and presented schoolchildren with musical instruments.
VivaCell-MTS General Manager Ralph Yirikian gifted 8 violins, 2 flutes, as well as one soprano saxophone and an electric keyboard. Mediamax also made its modest contribution by presenting the school with two guitars.
The joint visit took place within the framework of “Rock Aid Armenia/Armenia Grateful 2 Rock” project, which is realized by Mediamax and Australian “Do Something” organization under Armenian President’s high patronage. Within the framework of the project, fundraising is realized for reconstructing Gyumri music school N6, which functions in shelters.
On December 4, 2009, during the joint press conference presided by VivaCell-MTS General Manager and Mediamax Director Ara Tadevosyan, it was announced that the frontman of Deep Purple Ian Gillan is going to give charitable concerts to the accompaniment of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Armenia on March 26 and 27, 2010 in Yerevan. VivaCell-MTS is the general sponsor of the concerts. This fact will allow using the entire proceeds from the concerts for reconstructing Gyumri music school N6.
“We aim at helping reconstruct this school. At the same time, we realize that this is a process, which will require efforts and some time. This is why, as long as we are at the start of this path, we decided to present a small gift to the school children on the threshold of the New Year. I hope that the new instruments will help them study music with greater joy”, said VivaCell-MTS General Manager Ralph Yirikian.
“We want to see this school reconstructed. VivaCell-MTS, a great star, such as Ian Gillan, and Australian “Do Something” have gotten united around this goal. I am sure that we will succeed in this and children will finally leave these shelters. And before this comes true, we will try to assist the school in any possible way, and today’s event is the first step”, said Mediamax Director Ara Tadevosyan.
