Yerevan /Mediamax/. “Computers for All” pilot project will be launched on September 22 in Armenia.
Mediamax reports that Director “Enterprise Incubator” Foundation Bagrat Yengibaryan stated at a news conference in Yerevan today that the main goal of the project is to research the demand for computers and the price policy in centers specializing in computer equipment sales, as well as try new banking mechanisms on purchasing computers and accessories.
According to the representative of Hewlett-Packard (HP) in CIS countries Vadim Tikhonichev, “Computers for All” campaign implies provision of an opportunity to the population to purchase computers at beneficial terms, which are already coordinated with “ACBA-CREDIT AGRICOLE BANK”. Partners of the given project are also the Ministry of Economy of Armenia, “Enterprise Incubator” Foundation, “Unicomp” and Microsoft companies.
Vadim Tikhonichev stressed that the project will be in process of realization till the year of 2012, and by that time they plan to increase computer use among the Armenian population up to 30%, and to make the volume of computer sales reach up to 15 thousand per year. He also presented conditions for purchasing computers within the framework of the given project, which provide for 0% prepayment and 0% commission fees.
As the Armenian Minister of Economy Nerses Yeritsyan stated, the Ministry is ready to invest $5mln in this project. He stressed that the issue of increasing availability of internet for the population is also in the center of the government’s attention. Nerses Yeritsyan stressed that in early 2010, the Minister of Economy of Armenia will make a concrete offer on spreading internet all over the country.
