"Cars of over 70 Armenian companies are under satellite control"

Director of "Locator" Company Arman Khachatryan’s interview to Mediamax and Itel.am portal

- How long have you been rendering GPS monitoring services in Armenia and do you have competitors?

- "Locator" CJSC is a result a plan by a group of enthusiasts and highly qualified specialists. Elaboration of the software system and establishment of maps was initiated in the beginning of 2007, and since November, 2007, "Locator – Satellite Security System and GPS-monitoring of mobile objects” was presented in the market.

Competitors occasionally appear, as in other fields, but I consider their weakness that they present ready foreign programs, and as a result, limited facilities and provide for high prices. Locator system was fully developed by our specialists and is liable to any changes, basing on the requirements of the market and the customers. We constantly improve and increase capacities of the system and services, taking into account the customers’ opinions and the call of the times.

- At the third All-Armenian E-Content contest of Satellite Security System and GPS Monitoring, "Lokator" became the absolute winner. Please, describe system facilities.

- This is a special software system, which with great exactness defines and presents the geographic location of the controlled object, speed and direction of the movement in a very convenient form on an e-map of satellite cosmic photos. Taking into account constant information archiving by the system, the customer can always learn, where his/her mobile devices have been during the whole day.

One of the capacities of Locator is that it also can define whether there are passengers in the car, check the counter’s work, fuel rate control, overspeed and "alarm" notification, determine the path traveled, carry out group classification of objects, address search and etc.

Free of charge software support and regular map and software update are among the advantages of the system. The system is available everywhere, via a computer with Internet connection. One can see detailed descriptions of the software and videos at the website of the company (www.locator.am).

- We have information that at the initiative of the Minister of Health of Armenia you will provide GPS monitoring system for the "Ambulance service" in Sochi city. Are "Ambulance cars" in Armenia provided with GPS systems?

- The elaborated version of Locator system for medical departments were initially created for regulating the work of "Ambulance" in Armenia, and the first tests were realized on the cars of "Erebuni" medical center.

- Do you have foreign customers?

- At present negotiations and test works are in process with customers from Malta, Tunisia, Greece and Spain. 

- How many companies do already use "Locator" services, and how many cars in general are under satellite control?

- Over 70 companies have trusted control over their car parks to us, cutting down expenses for fuel and servicing and improving drivers` discipline and operating efficiency.

Over 600 cars in Armenia are under our control, the drivers of which feel themselves more protection.

- Are there any obstacles to development of GPS monitoring service market in Armenia?

- We can note as the main obstacle the lack of information among Armenian business circles on GPS systems and high efficiency of their use.

- Is there a case in your practice, when hijacked car was revealed with the use of GPS system capacities? 

- There were cases of hijackings and attacks, to our joy, those cases were successfully prevented with the help of Locator system. We learn about these cases from our customers` grateful responses.

- Do you plan new projects, or improvement of GPS monitoring?

- In addition to "Satellite Security System and GPS monitoring of mobile objects", we also have other successful projects, for instance Information Security System to cover availability of WiMAX radiofrequencies or other operators, observation systems and systems for security of immovable objects.

Just recently, we have begun providing GPS navigators. On e-maps, comparing the location of the car, the system helps the driver to get orientated quickly, offers the most convenient and the shortest route, taking into consideration all rules of road traffic. And while driving, it accompanies the driver with a pleasant voice, notifying, for instance, about the next turn in 50 meters. Our navigators also have multimedia capabilities (they reproduce audio and video formats, photos, e-books), allow answering phone calls via Bluetooth, they also have wireless night vision camera.
