Yerevan /Mediamax/. 150 students from 22 countries participate in first lectures of the Virtual University of Armenia (VUA).
Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU) initiated establishment of VUA.
As Mediamax was informed in AGBU Yerevan office, students are Armenians at the age of 18-82 from Shanghai, Seattle, Kiev, Hague, Amman and other cities.
During classes, students are offered to listen to 16 multimedia lectures in one of 6 languages: Armenian, Western Armenian, English, Russian, French or Spanish. The University teaches: Armenian for beginners, Western Armenian for beginners and History of Armenia.
The classes begun on June 14 and will last till August 7. All expenses for education within the framework of the given session are covered by AGBU.
Besides the weekly course, students also have the opportunity to use education multimedia tools: tasks, problems, schedule of classes, program and task boxes. Moreover, they are provided the opportunity to participate in discussions, receive and send e-mails, communicate with co-students in chats.
Registration of students for fall session will start on August 31 and will last till September 14. Students of the summer session may continue education also during the fall session. At the fall session, students will be offered a number of new subjects, in particular, introduction to Armenian architecture.

Users are divided into three groups: friends of the Virtual University, registered participants and students.
Fall 9-week lectures will start on September 22. The fee for education will be announced in the nearest future. At that, if a student gets excellent marks for all exams, the entire sum will be returned to the student. Discounts for socially insecure students will also be provided.
