Microsoft intends to increase education efficiency in Armenia by means of IT

Yerevan /Mediamax/. Microsoft intends to increase education efficiency in Armenia by means of information technologies (IT).

Mediamax reports that Head of Microsoft Armenian Office Grigor Barseghyan said this at a conference “Use of Technologies and New Methods in Educational System” in Yerevan today.

According to him, information technologies day by day occupy a larger place in our life, and already today information technologies have become available for many. Grigor Barseghyan noted that in the sphere of education, Microsoft faces two tasks: how to prepare the youth for the 21st century and how to use IT in teaching non-technical subjects.

As the Director of the National Center for Educational Technologies Areg Grigoryan stated, cooperation between Microsoft and the Ministry of Education of Armenia has been proceeding for a few years. He noted that two cooperation agreements have been signed, within the framework of which educational institutions were provided with licensed programs; at the given moment a project devoted to innovative schools, teachers and pupils is in process.

According to the Head of Microsoft “Partners in Learning” Program Christina Genjyan, Microsoft attaches great importance to education. Thus, since 2003, within the framework of “Partners in Learning”, Microsoft funded a few hundreds of projects worldwide at the sum of $500mln. Armenia has been participating in the given program since 2008.
