Yerevan /Mediamax/. Today, “it is convenient for “ArmenTel” to maintain the base of active subscribers and disconnect the idle ones”.
Mediamax reports that Executive Vice-President of “VimpelCom” on Business Development in CIS stated Dmitri Pleskonos said this in an interview to RBC Daily newspaper.
“We do not seek the number of subscribers, the quality of the base is important for us. In Armenia 7mln people live outside the country, regularly visiting their homeland and purchasing SIM cards. In the crisis period the given process slowed down. The volume of money proceeds to Armenia abruptly cut down. And the legislation was toughened; personalization of subscribers was introduced, which we did not have when we were entering the market. As a result, subscribers without passport data were disconnected. Besides, we have license payments for each registered user in billing. This is why, today it is more convenient for the company to maintain a base of active subscribers and to disconnect the idle ones”, Dmitri Pleskonos stated.
