Turkish Telecom does not respond to “ArmenTel” proposal

Yerevan /Mediamax/. Turkish Telecom Company does not respond to “ArmenTel” Company’s proposal on laying a cable-optic cable from Turkey to Armenia, and this is why the project is frozen at the moment.

“ArmenTel” Spokeswoman Anush Begloyan informed Mediamax on this.

The discussions between two companies on laying a fiber-optic cable from Turkey to Armenia were initiated in 2008. “ArmenTel” considered laying a cable from Turkey as establishment of an alternative channel for internet supply to Armenia.

At present, Armenia is connected to the world network by means of two cables of “ArmenTel” with exists on Georgia’s and Iran’s borders, and one cable of Fibernet Company, which passes along Yerevan-Tbilisi railroad.
