Suren Markosian’s Epic! digital library raises USD 30m

U.S.-based Epic! leading digital library for children, developed by founder of List.am Suren Markosian, has announced USD 30 million in Series D funding.

The investment was provided by Evolution Media and Creative Artists.

Epic! is a digital media brand for kids aged 12 and under. It was founded by Suren Markosian and Kevin Donahue, former YouTube, Google and Disney executive.

Overall, Epic! has raised USD 51.5m in all four rounds. Currently it is used in 91% of American elementary schools. It is available on AppStore, Google Play, and Kindle.

Over 500 million books have been read on the platform since it was launched. Around 10 million children have used the library.

Launched in January of 2014, the company has already cooperated with more than 250 leading publishers and video providers such as HarperCollins, Macmillan, Sesame Workshop, National Geographic Kids and Smithsonian Enterprises.

Content on Epic! is carefully selected by a team of children’s publishing experts, while the powerful recommendation algorithm tailors content offerings to each child’s reading level and preferences.

Back in 2017, Epic! announced USD 8m in Series C funding.
