Ucom to build a large data center

Ucom Director General Hayk Yesayan has revealed that the company plans to build a large data center.

“There must be demand for it: banks, small IT companies have shown interest. What is the current situation? Many companies put the equipment and the conditioner in a separate room in the office and consider it a data center. But if you calculate the operating expenses and the need for electric generator and consider the matter of security, you will see it is better to use a proper data center, built in accordance with European standards,” he said in the interview to Golos Armenii.

Hayk Yesayan recalled that Ucom introduced a cloud service for data storage two years ago.

“We’re also thinking of introducing Software as a service (SaaS). We would provide it to companies that want to offer their services via our network. For instance, a company provides software to corporate clients. If it is installed in cloud systems and the subscribers use it via our network, they will have an advantage: the data won’t get lost, they will be able to use the soft in any office (if the company has several), and the operating expenses will decrease. That is the direction the world is moving in, and so are we,” concluded Yesayan.
