    VimpelCom to increase investment in Armenia by USD 15m

    Armenian Minister of Transport, Communication and Information Technologies Vahan Martirosyan received Alex Matuschka, Group Chief Performance Officer at VimpelCom, and ArmenTel CEO Andrey Pyatakhin in Yerevan.

    The Ministry informed that the parties discussed perspectives for development of telecommunications sector at the meeting on February 9.

    “In the context of growing competition VimpelCom transforms its strategy and business model, shifting from traditional to digital services. In Armenia, ArmenTel will also transform into a digital operator, offering its subscribers fully modernized e-services. According to VimpelCom representatives, Armenia is the first country in the region to apply this approach, and modernization will partly concern the company’s fixed network as well.

    Alex Matuschka presented to the Minister to this year’s investment program. As a result of discussions, VimpelCom official promised to increase the scheduled investment in Armenia by USD 15 million,” reads the Ministry press service’s release.
