Chessfimee mobile app, which scans and analyzes the chess board, has been launched.
The app, developed by Fimetech, is available on Google Play.
Fimetech founder Gor Vardanyan told
Itel.am that their solutionis new in IT sphere, and they plan to increase interest towards chess through it in Armenia and the rest of the world.
“Using OCR (optical character recognition) technology, the app scans and digitizes chess diagramstaken by phone from books, journals and LCD screens, and analyzes the positions with stockfish chess analyzer. There is also an option of playing against computer,” he noted, adding that they target global market.
According to Gor Vardanyan, he came up with the idea for this application when he decided to simplify chess learning for his children.
“Chess is taught at schools in Armenia, and this app can help all schoolchildren do their chess homework. Moreover, many other people need an app such as this. We want to help those who love chess and want to learn to play. We consider our main income source to be creating various software solutions for professional chess players,” Fimetech founder explained.
He added that Fimetech will assist the app developers’ team of 4-5 people in founding a separate startup, thus trying to achieve success.
At present, the team is developing iOS version of the app.
