VivaCell-MTS to provide free Wi-Fi around Republic Square

VivaCell-MTS has come with an initiative to provide mobile subscribers with access to Wi-Fi Internet in public areas.

The company noted that the first phase of the pilot project covers one of the most saturated areas of Yerevan adjacent to Vazgen Sargsyan St - stretching from the Republic Square down to the Shahumyan Square.

Free Wi-Fi will be available without any additional charges to both subscribers and non-subscribers of VivaCell-MTS.

VivaCell-MTS subscribes will benefit from full unlimited access to Internet by simply dialing USSD *252# and getting the PIN code required for access.

VivaCell-MTS data users will get access to the Internet with the speed of up to 5 Mb/s while non-data users will get access to the Internet with the speed of only 512 kb/s which is enough for comfortable browsing.

Non-VivaCell-MTS subscribers will be limited to browsing websites only and will be first exposed to a short advertisement video or a banner before getting connected to the Internet.

“Free of charge Wi-Fi connectivity provides several advantages: for those who use the Internet for leasure, entertainment and business this is a tangible benefit, of course. It’s also a benefit for the visitors of Yerevan, who will have free and unlimited access to the Internet while walking in the city’s cultural center. Providing free Wi-Fi in the Republic Square is the natural extension of the projects, in the frames of which numerous museums and lirbraries of Yerevan have been provided with free Wi-Fi connectivity by VivaCell-MTS,” noted VivaCell-MTS General Manager Ralph Yirikian.
