Mostafa Sadjadi: Cartly will simplify food shopping in Armenia

Itel.am told about Cartly mobile application for online food shopping about a month ago, when the Android version of the app was launched.

The startup that participated in the Acceleration Program of Microsoft Innovation Center Armenia (MIC) recently launched an iOS version of the app. We talked to Cartly founder Iranian Mostafa Sadjadi about this update and the perspectives of the startup’s development.

- iOS version of Cartly was launched a few days ago. What has been changed compared to the Android version?

- We got lots of feedbacks from our Android users, we learnt and applied a lot. We are very thankful to our beta users and almost 70+ customers who just ordered grocery knowing nothing about Cartly but started to trust us.

We have added 2 main functions – the customer can select the time interval of the order. Imagine a lady in the office, lets say, places an order for 7-8 p.m. at 3 p.m., and after work she just goes home and forgets about the hustle of the grocery shopping. On top of that, after 9 p.m. the customer can place an order for the next day.

The next functionality is that the customer can look back on the history of orders and see how much they have spent on the grocery shopping.

Moreover, there is an opportunity of appeal: if the food you received isn’t fresh or you don’t like it for some reason, you can call us and we will come, take it back and return your money.

- What do you plan for the next 3 months?

- First we want to help people to make their shopping experience easy and simple, and do grocery shopping without visiting a supermarket. This is our top goal for the next 2-3 months.

Currently we have 1000+ downloads on both platforms of the app.

iOS growth rate is 2 times faster than Android. We are growing and getting more and more orders. We plan to reach 200-300 orders per day.

We believe that iOS version will pass Android index in around a week. We will soon add login function so that our customers can enter the system from other devices as well, and view their weekly and monthly shopping history.

- You mentioned in our previous conversation that you plan to enter the Iranian market in September. What has been done so far?

- It’s just a plan, and for startups plans don’t always come true.

Our main focus for upcoming months is in Armenia, because it is very important to be focused on 1 market and overcome the challenges, then think of the next one. We will think about another market in future.

- Do you already think about investments?

- We are negotiating with a few serious interested parties that want to be engaged in everything we do.

We believe that we can anticipate investments from them if in 3 months they are still interested to do fundraising.
