Good Friday is a non-working day for VivaCell-MTS employees

VivaCell-MTS informs that traditionally Good Friday is a non-working day in the Company. The Good Friday is celebrated on April 3 this year.

The Palm Sunday which starts the Holy week before the Feast of the Glorious Resurrection of Christ was celebrated on March 29.

The Holy Thursday, celebrated this year on April 2, is devoted to the Last Supper. The evening starts with a solemn service, which is an introduction to the Good Friday, and symbolizes the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.

Good Friday commemorates the passion, crucifixion, death and burial of Jesus Christ. On the Good Friday, the Service of the Crucifixion is held during the day. Upon the completion of the evening prayer service, a Burial Service is performed, when Jesus Christ’s symbolic tomb, decorated with flowers and tree shoots, is processed around the church.

The Holy Saturday commemorates Jesus Christ’s harrowing of hell and the salvation of all righteous souls. As the Church practice is, a new day starts upon the completion of the evening prayer service. Holy Saturday Liturgy is held in the evening; afterwards the Glorious Resurrection of the Lord is announced with the Paschal greeting “Christ has risen from the dead! Blessed is the Resurrection of Christ!” This Paschal greeting marks the end of the Lent.

On Sunday, April 5, we celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ with a solemn Divine Liturgy. The Resurrection of Christ is the basis of the Christian faith. Also called Zatik in Armenian, it means severance, separation, liberation from sins and the return to God. The Easter is one of the five major feasts of the Armenian Holy Apostolic Church.
