VivaCell-MTS considers the introduction of Mobile Number Portability (MNP) system a positive growth in the Armenian telecommunication market.
“The service has not only granted a broader choice to the consumers but has also spurred competitiveness both from the point of view of the customer and the mobile operator. Best examples of existing practice have been considered when working out the process and it allows us to regard it as positive”, VivaCell-MTS spokesperson Vahe Isahakyan told Mediamax.
Speaking about the expectations regarding the roll-out of the new service, he said that the MNP is aimed at ensuring convenience for the customer rather than providing a chance for any of the market players to have a competitive advantage.
“Clearly realizing this fact, we expect no significant changes and progress in the market and the current situation comes to prove it”, said the company’s spokesperson.
Vahe Isahakyan said that the company has registered an insignificant number of portability since the roll-out of the service on April 1 up to April 30 (994 subscribers have ported their number to the company’s network and 2295 have ported to other networks).
Overall, VivaCell-MTS has registered around 58 000 new subscriptions since April 1.
