Due to VivaCell-MTS’ general sponsorship the premiere of the new staging of «Karine» operetta took place. VivaCell-MTS has allocated AMD 10 million for the new staging of Tigran Chukhajyan’s immortal operetta.
It’s the third time that Chukhajyan’s masterpiece is on the stage of the State Musical Comedy Theater after H. Paronyan. The staging was realized by famous workers of art, People’s artists Yervand Ghazanchyan (director), Yuri Davtyan (conductor), artist Robert Elibekyan (stage designer), renowned conductor Shushan Hovhannisyan and choreographer Anna Karapetyan. Leading actors of the theater, the symphonic orchestra, a four-part chorus and ballet are included in the performance.
With its bright and fresh colors, excellent use of folk melodies, solo performances and humor, «Karine» still remains unequaled.
“VivaCell-MTS gladly undertook the sponsorship of staging this masterpiece. Each young person should have a chance to experience the art of theatre and enjoy the works of well-known Armenian composers. Art is a culmination of feelings, the universal expression of all things beautiful and right», said VivaCell-MTS General Manager Ralph Yirikian.
Translated by Matsak Ter-Arakelyan, «Karine» was first performed in Armenian in the Mayilyan Theatre of Baku in 1912.
Earlier, the operetta was staged at Paronyan Theater in 1941 and 1950, and in Opera and Ballet Theater in 1951 and 1988. In 1962, the «Hayfilm» studio created a musical film based on the operetta.
