Orange announced the opening of applications for Orange Book Prize 2013 today.
The Book Prize is held in 4 genres - story, novel, fairy tale and poetry. The application deadline is December 26. Orange Armenia Marketing Director Aram Mkrtchyan said today, the awards ceremony will take place on March 28, 2014. The authors of the winning pieces in all the genres will be awarded money prizes - AMD300 thousand each - except for the special "People's Prize".
The readers will be able to vote for the works on Facebook social network. The work having received the maximum votes irrespective of the genre through readers' voting will be awarded "People's Prize".
The main winners will be selected by the jury including one of the winners of Orange Book Prize 2012.
"I personally read the works of the previous years' winners, and my viewpoint on Armenian contemporary literature considerably changed", said Aram Mkrtchyan noting that "the contest makes its big contribution to the development of Armenian contemporary literature".
Orange Book Prize 2013 is held with the support of "Armenian Book Center " NGO. Director of the NGO Mkrtich Matevosyan said that Armenian writers are more inclined to poetry but the novel has activated over past years. He offered Orange to translate the works of the previous years' winners into English and French and work out their electronic versions.
One of the innovations of Orange Book Prize this year will be "Armenian Book Center's" publication of the winners' works in comics version.
