FPWC and VivaCell-MTS initiated a tree-planting in an area adjacent to the Khosrov Reserve

Yerevan/Mediamax/. As a part of the Earth Day 2012 Campaign, the Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets (FPWC) and VivaCell-MTS have initiated a tree-planting in a treeless area of the Buffer Zone, adjacent to the Khosrov Reserve.

The forestation works started on April 22. In total, 2000 trees will be planted within the frames of the action, 1000 out of which were planted on April 22nd, and the other 1000 will be planted in autumn.  

The territory, adjacent to Khosrov Reserve, is located in Urtsadzor community and is currently under the protection of FPWC. This model of a privately owned and managed reserve is the first and yet unprecedented one in the South Caucasus. The project is supported by the British organization World Land Trust. 

Among the participants of the big tree-planting action were local and international organizations, embassies, representatives of governmental and non-governmental organizations, local authorities of Urtsadzor community, members of the SunChild Eco-club of Urtsadzor, schoolchildren of the “Green School” project, journalists, the local population, as well as individuals who had donated trees via SMS.     

Those who wish to join the initiative can send an SMS to the short number 1059, mentioning the name of the person for whom the tree is donated. The cost of one SMS-tree is 1000 AMD, including VAT. The SMS campaign is only eligible for subscribers of VivaCell-MTS.
