Total length of ArmenTel’s fiber optic backbone network exceeds 2770km

Yerevan/Mediamax/. ArmenTel (Beeline trademark) announces expansion of geography of the fiber-optic network and launch of DWDM-based fiber-optic backbone networks.

As of the end of third quarter of 2011, ArmenTel completed the construction of the DWDM-based backbone network. The new high speed backbone network passes from Armenia’s northern border to the South and provides reservation of the transport network, passing throughout the country.

On the whole, in the second half of 2011, ArmenTel laid over 100 kilometers of fiber-optic cable as well as organized direct connection to backbone fiber-optic network in NKR.

“The comprehensive modernization of infrastructure is the next step aimed at the construction of an extensive high speed network covering the most remote communities of Armenia. The demand for our broadband mobile and fixed Internet keeps growing. Taking into consideration the fact that this tendency will remain, we are going to provide the subscribers of the Armenian universal operator with the most up-to-date and qualitative communication services and Internet access,” ArmenTel CEO Igor Klimko noted.

The total length of the fiber-optic network of ArmenTel Telecommunication Company exceeds 2770 kilometers, of which 326 km in Yerevan).
