Eighth “Golden Apricot” Film Festival to take place in Armenia on July 10-17

Yerevan/Mediamax/. Eighth International Film Festival “Golden Apricot” will take place in Yerevan on July 10-17.

Representatives of 57 countries will participate in the film festival. 600 applications were received in total.

Mediamax reports that Armenian Minister of Culture Hasmik Poghosyan said today that “we are waiting for new surprises and hope that they will take place”.

This year, the three main nominations of the festival were replenished with another one: “Short Action Movie”.

A separate out-of-competition program will be devoted to the 20th anniversary of Armenia’s independence. Films, shot during independence years, will be shown within its framework.

Jubilees of Roman Balayan, Edmond Kyosayan and Dmitri Kyosayants will be celebrated in the frames of the festival.

Ralph Yirikian, General Manager of “VivaCell-MTS” Company, which is traditionally the sponsor of the festival, noted that “Golden Apricot” makes Armenia more recognizable abroad.

“From the very first days of festival establishment, “VivaCell-MTS” has supported it and our cooperation will continue in future”, he said.
