Microsoft Innovation Center opened in Yerevan

Yerevan/Mediamax/. Official opening ceremony of Microsoft Innovation Center (MIC) in Armenia took place in State Engineering University of Armenia (SEUA) today.

Mediamax reports that Armenian Minister of Economy and Education, U.S. Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch, representatives of Dell and Microsoft Companies were present at the opening of the Center.

Head of the Armenian office of Microsoft Grigor Barseghyan informed that the main goal of the Center will be stimulation of innovations, revelation of new ideas, creation and introduction of IT solutions in various spheres of economy.

According to Grigor Barseghyan, the center has elaborated for itself the following programs as a “minimum limit”.

-    establishment of 200 workplaces in IT sector of Armenia
-    assistance to 50 current IT companies
-    formation of 10 new companies and elaboration of 20 innovative software products, which will be known and available in the entire world.

The program on founding the center was realized by “Enterprise Incubator Foundation”, given support of the Armenian government, U.S. International Development Agency (USAID), Microsoft Company and SEUA. Technical support was provided to the center by Dell and “ArmenTel”.

MIC Program Manager Eva Gyusyan informed that the Center will carry out short-term and long-term technology and business courses, during which students and specialists of the IT sector will gain knowledge and will be provided consultation services, necessary for realization of their ideas.
