Level of information security increased in Armenia, Secretary of the Security Council believes

Yerevan/Mediamax/. In 2010, the level of information security increased significantly in Armenia.

Mediamax was informed in the press service of the National Security Council of Armenia that this was stated at the session of the Interdepartmental Coordination Committee on realizing the concept of information security today.

“It was noted that the National Security Service, in charge of this sphere, neutralized in 2010 the attacks on official websites of governmental establishments, which were frequent in 2008-2009. At the session they decided to suggest expanding the list of official websites of governmental establishments under the control of the NSC, including also some other official websites in Armenia and NKR”, the statement reads.

National Security Council Secretary Artur Baghdasaryan noted that in 2010, penetration of broadband internet in Yerevan and the regions of the country significantly increased.

“The research shows that in the course of the recent two years the wholesale price of broadband internet increased approximately 6 times, and I believe that there are resources both for further reduction of prices and for realization of steps on further liberalization of the market, which will give the chance to secure quality internet connection on the entire territory of the republic. Our research shows that the level of network readiness has increased as well. There is a number of organizations in the market today, which provide quite high quality services, and this evidences the fact that development of competition in this sphere gives the chance to increase the quality and reduce the prices”, the statement of the press service of the National Security Council reads.
