Discussion on cyber security taking place in Yerevan

Yerevan/Mediamax/. Given assistance of OSCE, discussion of challenges in the sphere of cyber security has been initiated in Yerevan.

Mediamax reports that representative of OSCE Department to Combat Cyber Crime Dimitar Jalnev expressed an opinion that among countries of the region, Armenia has advanced over the past few years as to the issue of cyber security. He highly assessed the efforts of the Armenian government, directed at combating cyber crime and increasing security in the given sphere.

In his turn, Secretary of the National Security Council Artur Baghdasaryan informed that Information Security Concept has been elaborated in Armenia, as well as a National Program to Combat Cyber Crime, which within the nearest days will be presented to the approval of the President of the country.

Artur Baghdasaryan noted that in 2010, governmental websites of Armenia were attacked by hackers, however after the corresponding serious measures were taken within the framework of the Information Security Concept, the number of attacks abruptly reduced. He stressed that the struggle against cyber crime is constantly in the center of the government’s and the country President’s attention.
