“VivaCell-MTS” and BirthLink to provide equipment for care for newborns in Armenian regions

Yerevan/Mediamax/. “VivaCell-MTS” mobile connection operator and British BirthLink public organization announced purchase of equipment for care for newborns for maternity hospitals in four marzes of Armenia.

General Manager of “VivaCell-MTS” Ralph Yirikian stated at a news conference in Yerevan today that equipment at the sum of 70mln AMD has been purchased. The main goal of the program is to significantly reduce the index of mortality among newborns in the country.

The new equipment will be supplied to maternity hospitals in Martuni, Kapan, Goris, Sevan and Berd towns, and two hospitals in Gyumri.

Head of BirthLink Kathy Melor noted that this year the main program on provision of equipment will be complete and the organization intends to start the second stage on technical support and qualification of specialists to provide for care for newborns.

Since 2009, “VivaCell-MTS” and BirthLink have been assisting maternity hospitals in Armenia. Last year, 11 maternity hospitals of Yerevan were provided with equipment at the total sum of 144mln AMD.
