Alternative operators are in no hurry to enter Armenian landline connection market

Yerevan/Mediamax/. “iCon Communications” hopes to enter Armenian landline connection market by the end of 2010.

“iCon” Marketing Communications and Products Manager Liana Tadevosyan informed Mediamax that the company has already offered its subscribers making international calls via special modem. She said legal issues are being solved at present, connected with rendering local landline connection services.

“Web” LLC Director Albert Toneyan said in the interview with Mediamax that in the nearest future the company plans no entry to landline connection market. He said that networks coupling process demands big investments, which the company considers to be unreasonable at the moment. Let us note that in April 2009, Albert Toneyan said in the interview with Mediamax that “Web” was going to render landline connection services and carried out operations to re-equip the network. He stated, operations on introduction broadband Internet would be completed in September-October 2009, and the company plans to render service to 1000-2000 subscribers.

“Bionet” Technical Director Martin Petrosyan said in the interview with Mediamax that the company is going to enter landline connection market in the nearest future. He said at present some details on incoming calls billing in the operators’ network are being specified.

Mediamax recalls that at the beginning of 2010 PSRC Chairman Robert Nazaryan expressed confidence that by the end of 2010 alternative operators would manage to overcome technical and economic obstacles, and strong competition would unfold in landline connection market of Armenia.
