“ArmenTel” head believes that certain internet providers are involved in unfair competition

Yerevan /Mediamax/. General Director of “ArmenTel” Igor Klimko commented on the complaints of Hi Line subscribers today concerning non-compliance of the announced and real speeds of internet connection.

Mediamax reports that Igor Klimko brought a few arguments.

“According to him, one of the reasons is the limited speed for return of transfer in particular websites. Another factor is the quality of subscribers’ telephone lines. In particular, Igor Klimko reminded that there are copper telephone lines remaining in Armenia yet.

Besides, “ArmenTel” Head stated, “last week, our main partners “Rostelecom” and UTG held planned works and disconnected communication channels”.

“Simultaneously with this, damage took place at Goris-Kapan section, where the fiber-optic cable was damaged, in connection with which our subscribers might have faced inconveniences”, Igor Klimko stated.

“ArmenTel” Head also noted that certain internet providers artificially limit access of Hi Line subscribers to website, located on their servers. Igor Klimko stated that he considers such behavior by providers as demonstration of unfair competition and intends to turn to the State Committee for Protection of Economic Competition and the Public Service Regulatory Committee.

Commenting on significant demand for the special campaign on getting connected to Hi Line service, Igor Klimko stated that all applications, submitted before December 31, will be met before the end of 2009 or during the first weeks of 2010.
