Yerevan /Mediamax/. Armenia occupies the second place in the world as to the level of software piracy, the research of international IDC Company evidences.
Mediamax reports that last year, as compared to 2007, the level of software piracy in Armenia reduced for 1 percentage point and made 92%.
According to the research, realized in 110 countries, as to the level of software piracy, the leading countries of the world are: Georgia (95%), Armenia (92%), Bangladesh (92%), Zimbabwe (92%), Moldova (90%), Azerbaijan (90%) and Sri-Lanka (90%).
According to IDC assessment, the average level of piracy in the world following the results of 2008 made 41%, which is 3% more, as compared to the level of 2007.
In fall, 2008, Vice-President of Microsoft Vahe Torosyan stated in Yerevan that in 2 years of the company’s presence in Armenia, the level of software piracy reduced approximately by 5%, and there are hopes that in within the nearest 2 years it will reduce for 7-8% more.
