5G broadband network establishing activities commenced in Armenia

The Ministry of High-Tech Industry of the Republic of Armenia has liberalized the 3600-3800 MHz radio frequency range for commercial use.

In response to Itel.am's question regarding the forthcoming establishment of 5G technological broadband network in Armenia, the Minister of High-Tech Industry of the Republic of Armenia Mkhitar Hayrapetyan stated that following the liberalization of radio frequency range, the Public Services Regulatory Commission initiated a process of developing a tender package and defining terms for allocating segments from 3600-3800MHz radio frequency range, as well as setting quality standards for public mobile 5G broadband technology. Relevant discussions will be conducted with the Ministry.

"After the discussions, the Public Services Regulatory Commission shall announce a tender. If the Armenian mobile communication operators participate in the tender and acquire segments of radio frequency range, the operators will carry out implementation and operation of 5G technological broadband network in the dates and locations specified by the terms of the tender package. In that event, Armenia will have access to a 5G technological broadband network.

The Ministry of High-Tech Industry conducted individual meetings with the Armenian mobile communication operators and communicated issues of 5G technology network implementation, specifically, their willingness and interest was discussed to participate in the tender and to carry out the above-mentioned works," the MHTI Minister said.
