The third volume of UNDP ImapctAIM’s Impact Night Out event series took place on November 19, 2019 at ISTC – Innovative Solutions and Technologies Center.
The third volume of the event series focused on the topic of "Tech4impact: Driving Change for SDGs" featuring opening remarks from UNDP Resident Representative Dmitry Mariyasin, UNDP JPOSC Manager Lykke Andersen and key note from UNDP Innovation Specialist Lejla Sadiku.
The third volume of Impact NightOUT was organized within the framework of Tech4Impact UNDP Junior Professional Officers (JPOs) workshop held in Armenia on 17-22 November, 2019. The event served as an effective platform to meet and network with the JPOs and colleagues from UNDP country offices in a non-formal environment, discuss how to merge tech and impact, the new challenges we have for achieving Sustainable Development Goals, and how technology can help us tackle them.
In the frames of the event UNDP ImpactAIM’s Climate Change Tech Accelerator (CCTA) vol. 2 graduation took place and 6 graduating startups came up with presenting their innovative ideas tackling urban development challenges. CCTA vol. 2 received 34 applications from 7 countries, 15 interviews were conducted and 10 were selected to be enrolled in the program with 6 graduates at the end of the program.
The 2nd call of Climate Change Technology Accelerator (CCTA) with new challenging topic on Sustainable Urban Developmentwas was implemented by UNDP ImpactAim in cooperation with ISTC - Innovative Solutions and Technologies Center Foundation, Enterprise Incubator Foundation (EIF). The Project was funded by Russia Trust Fund for Development and Asian Development Bank Ventures, implemented jointly with the Ministry of Environment of Armenia.
The first Demo Day of UNDP ImpactAIM’s another acceleration program AIM GovTech also took place during the event. The program is running only 3 weeks, but the 4 startups enrolled in the program proved that are fully into the topic and managed to amaze event participants with their vigorous presentations.
AIM GovTech is a UNDP Country investment facility funded project, initiated by UNDP ImpactAIM Accelerator, implemented in cooperation and with the support of Ministry of High-Tech Industry of Armenia and partnering with Hero House run by Catalyst foundation and Armenia National SDG Innovation Lab. AIM GovTech Accelerator relies on leveraging innovative technologies, strongly encouraging the use of blockchain and artificial intelligence, to advance the SDGs in the realm of governance and public policy. During the acceleration program, participants will receive training and tailored mentorship, as well as access to domain expertise, professional networks of UNDP, and the opportunity to participate in international conferences.
Impact Out event series is designed by UNDP ImpactAIM Accelerator to become a community for impact enthusiasts, innovation evangelists, startupers and tech gurus giving them an opportunity to share the latest developments of the field at international and national levels.
