The Engineering City now under construction in Bagrevand (Jrvezh) will welcome the first organizations in September and start operating in full until the end of the year.

Enterprise Incubator Director Foundation Bagrat Yengibaryan made that announcement today.

The Engineering City will work with support from the Armenian Ministry of Economy, Enterprise Incubator Director (EIF), and National Instruments Armenia.

“The Engineering City will be located on a 3ha area in Jrvezh. The main investors are 16 private organizations. Two other companies, Philip Morris and an Abu Dhabi enterprise are interested in opening their research centers in the city. Armenian Government will help with construction of infrastructure with support from the World Bank. Around 30-35 companies will have individual buildings and nearly 50 will be able to develop their accelerators in the Engineering City,” Bagrat Yengibaryan said.

According to Bagrat Yengibaryan, the Engineering city will have exclusive laboratories with equipment worth of hundreds of thousands of dollars. The equipment will be used by several companies.

Director of EIF also informed that they planned to locate Systems engineering faculty of National Polytechnic University of Armenia in the Engineering City.

“We should try to make the opportunities of the Engineering city available for all the students. They should not be afraid of “playing”, they should try themselves instead to be able to develop innovations of the future,” Bagrat Yengibaryan said.

The total budget of the program makes USD 20 million.
